Foliage Feud is an educational game where you take the role of a young man or woman on the search for plants that are desperately needed for your older brother. Using a map and compass, make your way around four large maps to find and then identify specific plants in three different minigames. This is an educational game created for a client at UW - Stout that focuses on learning to find and identify plants. The main game focuses on the finding the plants by using a map and a compass, while the mini games focus on identifying plants given descriptions of them. The game was written completely from scratch in Javascript.
The difficulty for this game was incorporating everything the client wanted. Unfortunately there were some things that we couldn't get in, such as filling out the sheet that she wanted, but we were able to find better ways to supplement this information, such as telling your brother at the main headquarters if you ran into an invasive plants, and if so, which ones. These kinds of actions would give you more money in game. We also found it difficult to get past Chrome's security, and therefore, were not able to get a working copy built for Chrome.
